The first book about a public figure I ever read was Colin Powell's biography when I was in the 9th grade. I had a tremendous amount of respect for him then as I do now, despite his caving in to the Bush people over the Iraq war. And, I might add, his sentiments and thoughts about the race are very close to mine.
