You can tell a lot about a person by observing what he accepts without proof and what he demands detailed documentation of. Regarding the "birther" issue (and the "secret Muslim" issue, and the "flag pin" issue, and the "secretly hates white people" issue) I think we have something like the racist version of Jesus' observation that "An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign".

I'm not saying that seeking proof for something makes you prejudiced, but when literally two minutes of research destroys the conspiracy theory, there aren't many other explanations for your belief.
